Developer :: Nitro+Chiral
Year of release :: 2006
Languages :: JPN
Duration :: 30-50 hours
Genres :: Drama, Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Plot :: The game takes place in a fictional world inhabited by Ribica (they look like humans, but have cat ears and tails). Their world plunged into dark times, the mysterious void made some places impossible to touch, which led to severe food shortages (it is believed that this is a curse). The story begins with the main character, Konoe, in Karu (a starving village), where he suddenly begins to have terrible dreams, and strange markings appear on his body.
Disclaimer! There may be spoilers on this page! Also I rate novels only based on my preferences.
One of the longest games from Nitro+Chiral – but it’s not just long, it’s an absolutely fantastic fantasy ride packed with everything you could ask for. Demons? Check. Cat-tailed humans? Check. Zombies? Ghosts? You name it – this one’s got the full set.
The story never drags; there’s always something happening – new twists, new characters, constant momentum. If you’ve been wanting an N+C game with a truly meaty plot – this is the one.
The visuals? I loved them. Tons of cool effects, like moving CGs during fights, and THE CHARACTERS’ EARS AND TAILS ACTUALLY MOVE – oh my god it’s SO cute, I can’t.
The character designs are also totally my thing – especially that blue-haired demon…
And the other demons? Just… so hot.
The protagonist / Konoe / CV: Hatano Kazutoshi
He's from the village of Karou, where he lived alone after his parents' death. Konoe may appear to be a loner, living alone in a house in the forest, but he actually enjoys the company of those he knows and is quite open with them. He has the common sense to recognize when killing is necessary, but he deeply despises any form of cruelty. Confident in himself, Konoe refuses to tolerate harassment. However, he has two main insecurities: his crooked tail and his terrible sense of direction.

Rai / CV: Morikawa Toshiyuki
A skilled bounty hunter who wields two swords and a sharp tongue. His catchphrase is "baka neko", which he uses liberally on everyone, but especially Konoe. Despite his cold and arrogant attitude, he can be surprisingly caring.

Asato / CV: Haruno Kaze
A one-track minded warrior from the closed-off village of Kira. Having grown up being shunned by the other villagers, he is unaccustomed to interacting with others, and so he has a hard time dealing with crowds and a simplistic, almost child-like manner of speech. Despite his social awkwardness, he is very loyal and fiercely protective of those he likes.

The old dude / Bardo / CV: Blacky
A friendly innkeeper in Ransen who sets his own pace. He enjoys suggestively teasing Konoe, although he does occasionally give good advice. Despite his irresponsible and lax management of his inn, he's confident in his cooking and diligently serves food to his inn's guests.

Devil of Wrath / Razel / CV: Inuno Chuusuke
One of the four devils out to devour Konoe. Despite his title, he's actually usually calm and collected. He can manipulate fire.

Ahhhhh..... Devil of Grief / Kaltz / CV: Kojirou
One of the four devils out to devour Konoe, although he lacks a passion to do so. His demeanor and behavior is unique among the devils, and he even goes as far as to show concern for Konoe. He's a gloomy devil who prefers to be alone and keep conversations brief. He can manipulate ice.

Devil of Pleasure / Verg / CV: Oily Hana
One of the four devils out to devour Konoe. Bad-tempered and impatient, he revels in the power he has over others and holds cats in disdain. He can manipulate lightning. Verg clearly shows sexual attraction toward Kaltz (fuck you.), however the feeling is not mutual.

Devil of Joy / Froud / CV: Sasanuma Akira (Rerir VA btw)
One of the four devils out to devour Konoe. His demeanor is misleadingly sweet and playful, all the while unnerving and distant. Despite his age, he is unsurprisingly the least mature of the devils. He can manipulate wind.

Shui / CV: Nakahara Shigeru
A mysterious singing cat who wanders the land.
He only talks when he's singing.

The sound is solid, and you even get the option to choose which characters are voice-acted – major plus for that. Oh, and the main menu design is gorgeous, seriously.
TW :: blood, death, tentacles (???), violence (mostly physical), cannibalism, neon/flashing scenes, torture.
My rating :: 8/10. Absolutely recommended. You’ll experience the full spectrum of emotions and you’ll definitely walk away with a new favorite character. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
